Anyone got some recent reports on Le Corbier, I am heading there on Saturday but the resort is not open yet and cant see much on the resorts homepage. The webcam looks like its decent high up but patchy low down.
Cheers

I go to the Les Sybelles ski area every year. Is an absolute ton of skiing to be had even when snow conditions not the best and they have had decent early snow this year anyway. Try and ski into all the little resorts in the area. Some really quaint little family run restaurants at the bottom of the pistes - really reasonable too.

hi richmond,
Thanks for this post, not one for posting but read a lot of info on here.
Been trying to find how le corbier was doing.
Do you know how much snow there is in le corbier at resort level? And when its planned to open?
Out there on 7th Jan and was getting a little nervous looking at their website/snow-forecast.com, till i read this post
Cheers

Just got back from La Toussuire which is linked to Corbier.
Arrived Sat 13th March amd left yesterday 20th March
All runs bar one or two fully open, but getting very slushy in afternoons. Ski'd down to Les Bottieres on Tuesday which is 1300 m. Very patchy and brown run down to resort, had to pick way around mud!!!
However snow was a lot better over towards St Sorlin D'Arves and all runs were skiable, but lower runs were getting slushy in afternoon.
We sat out having a beer in St Sorlin on Wednesday and it was +14 degrees C according to temperature gague on first lift out of St Sorlin.
Certainly we noticed that runs were more slushy as week progressed. Corbier was similar to St Sorlin.
We had blazing sun all week and if it keps that up next week and week after may start becoming awkward. One Pistierre told us they have not had snow for three weeks.
Still did a lot of good skiing though

Timbobaggins, Thanks.
We were staying in the Le Mont Corbier with just about ski in/ski out, we only had to walk about 30m on the way out, and could ski to about 3mtrs of the door if you carefully avoided the gravel on the way back...
The first day was constant heavy persistent horrible rain which eventually made its way down through our collars and turned all the snow to slush. We gave up wet and miserable about 2pm.
The second day was overcast and a bit colder so we had the classic ice then slush which got worse lower. The Reynard run back from La Toussuire was closed due to lack of snow and a few other runs were looking poor. Think we had a light dusting that evening but it didn't make much difference.
Then three beautiful blue sky days, which didn't help the pistes but made us feel much happier... The cannons and pistierres were doing a great job of keeping most of the resorts open, although St Jean was almost totally green except the run back.
Our last day, Friday, started with rain, wind, and snow, so we decided to delay heading out until about 11 and hoped to ski through without stopping. Then a blizzard and all the lifts were closed. We heard of people being stranded in the wrong valleys, having to hitch lifts on Piste bashers and skidoos. It looked as if we had missed out on skiing on the last day... Then at 13:40, the mist cleared, the wind stopped, leaving blue skies and 5 inch of fresh powder. What an afternoon, fresh tracks with hardly anyone about...
Overnight plenty more snow fell and we left the resort completely white over again with more snow promised...
Overall a great week with some good skiing.
