Hello all, thank you for all your advice previously! I am off to Wengen tomorrow with the family for a week-can't wait! Welsh Totty, suggest you look at the train times on the Swiss rail on-line timetable so that you know when your train leaves - and where the changes are. The information office at Geneva will be helpful and print out a time table for you - but that may mean you miss your first train if it is tight. Have a great week - Wengen is a wonderful resort.

Welsh Totty, I've done exactly that trip too. Its an easy connection at Geneva and onwards, changing trains a few times is a bit of a hassle but not the end of the world (as long as you aren't carrying everyone's bag). Getting a copy of the timetable off the web is a good idea if you can, it'll give you details of platform numbers, etc. If you want to be massively organised, it might be worth having a couple of journeys planned out so if you are delayed for any reason you know when the next train and connections are...
And sit on the right hand side of the train passing Lake Geneva and on the LHS for the approach to Interlaken for the best views, its a great trip...

Welsh Totty, I've not done the transfer to Wengen but I've done a couple of other transfers to Swiss resorts from Geneva. It's a great way of getting to your resort.
One tip, there may not be any catering facilities on the train, there weren't on the ones I used, but I expect the timetable will details the train facilities. It is a good idea to stock up at the supermarket and the wine/beer shop near the rail terminal.
Have a great trip.

Welsh Totty, It is best to catch the train journey from Geneva Airport to Wengen that involve three changes ie Berne, Iterlaken Ost and Lauterbrunnen. Other train journeys can involve 4 or 5 train changes. I think the 3 stop journeys leave at one minute past the hour. You can go onto the SBB Website and print off the various journeys which give you all the train times for each part of the journey and the platform number the trains arrive at and leave from. Its a good idea to grab a luggage trolly in baggage reclaim (cost 2 euros) to wheel your luggage to the train platform, you can wheel the trolly down the escalater which is a bit odd until you see that it has a tooth arrangement and watch somebody else going down to the trains.
Hope you enjoy Wengen, I am arriving tomorrow so i hope the snow is good.

Geneva to interlaken you should be able to get a train with a family carriage - shown FZ on the timetable - bit noisy but toys, slide, games etc and kids play intead of whinging and asking 'are we nearly there yet'.

er..., actually it's FA, but basically if it's a double decker train you'll have one. Our girls loved it.
