Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Do bindings need to be serviced?

I have a pair of Salomon Streetracer 10 with salomon bindings. They are about 5 years old so have done about 10 weeks. Do the bindings ever need servicing? If so, how often and who does it etc?

what a good question. I'll be interested in the answer. And is there an "expected life" beyond which they can't reasonably be expected to perform right?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I've never thought about it but as there're a shed load of springs, bits and bobs inside that vary from one manufacturer and one model to another, I guess it's a manufacturer job isn't it ? For reassurance sake, I do get them torque / release tested by one of the fancy machines in the ski technician's workshops from time to time as both of my ski sets are on a high DIN so I've never popped them off from an incident while skiing.

geeo, I don't know anywhere in Scotland that's got the kit for doing it but surprised if there wasn't ... business opportunity for someone maybe ? Mine were last tested on some kit in a large shop near the bottom of Galzigbahn in St Anton.

In short - YES.

I did not use to do it very often. But here in Switzerland most people seem to do it annually. They even have a sticker on the ski to prove it, almost like an MOT.

SandRock in Manchester checked my bindings when I took them in for a waxing. One of them needed to be adjusted as it had taken a knock. Glad I asked them to do a quick check. (it was free). It wasn,t a service for the bindings though, just a check they fitted my boots and worked properly.
