Poster: A snowHead

We are reasonable skiers and enjoy skiing together as a family but also need a bit of a challenge for the two best skiers in the family. We have been to Hemsedal a few times, plenty of places in Romania and also to Baqueira-Beret.
The first day we can go is March 27th as the kids finish school the day before.
The things we would like are
1. A lift/piste layout that makes sense and funnels people down to one place without too much difficulty
2. Self catering accommodation - we like to have dinner when we choose and can't eat three courses every day
3. Well groomed slopes - our legs can't take the bumps for long!
4. A reasonable price - we are looking at c.£2000 to go to Hemsedal again for a week including passes/ski rental/flights etc so something around that would be nice. (food is on top of that btw)
We don't need
1. 2,000 Km of pistes as we are not mileage munchers
2. Apres ski until 3am
3. Queues more than a few minutes for the major lifts
Anyone got any ideas?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Serfus/Fiss near Innsbruck looks like it fits these criteria. As do many resorts in most of the Alpine countries.
Do you need a resort offered by a tour operator or are you up for DIY? Many Swiss Italian and Austrian resorts have self-catering accommodation, but this is not offered by standard TOs. The cost of things in general in French resorts is probably the main reason why most TOs offer a wide range of self-catering accommodation instead of predominantly hotels.

AndrewBailey, I can only suggest what we have stuck with for the last few years - Vallandry, one of the smaller villages linked to Les Arcs
In terms of your requirements
1. yes is a logical layout and there are numerous routes to take back to the same place allowing for differnet skiers to try different runs
2. Is mainly self-catered apartments - we book ours dirct through CIS in Vallandry but they crop up on Chalet Finder etc. Is a small but well stocled Casino there, as well as a couple of restaurants and take away pizza, chicken, tartiflette places should you not feel like cooking
3. There is a mix of groomed and ungroomed - generally the runs back to resort are every night
4. Seems do able
There is a huge amount of runs as easily linked to Les Arcs or La Plagne - should you wish to! But we have had fun without straying to far
Is IMV a quiet resort very family orientated - certainly not a destination for a lads trip
Ok there can be a longish queue if you hit just after lunch or ski school time but I've never found it unbearable - and that's with 3 young kids

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thank for the responses and PMs so far. I should have clarified that this would almost certainly be on a DIY basis, indeed we haven't been on a package holiday since I was 10 and that is a fair few years ago now.

AndrewBailey, I'd be surprised if you had any big queue problems at that time - certainly in France the locals seem to have given up skiing by about that time. Easter - pref as early as possible - is a good time to go.
We don't do queues at all - we go back for the UK for the 4 frantic French holiday weeks - but we've had no problems in late March. Nice long days, not too cold (not like the last couple of days, which have sapped my enthusiasm for skiing, it's been soooooooooooo cold), good snow, pistes with different orientation so that you can go on the sunny ones in the morning when it can be a bit hard, and then keep the runs shaded in the morning for the afternoon's skiing. Different aspects are actually quite important at that time of year, though I expect most resorts have a range.
