Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Timbobaggins, you could also use www.mappy.com it gives tolls distance, fuel stations especailly useful if you are looking for cheaper fuel, i.e. french supermarkets on the autoroutes, and whatever else you need.

8 - 9 hours driving. But if speed is reduced (rain, let alone snow) it might take longer. And don't forget to add the stops. personally I wouldn't waste time driving off the autoroute spending ages looking for a few bob off petrol. Not if you want to get there quickly.

Timbobaggins, fill in Calais before you get on the motorway, if its a 2.0 you should be able to get to Chambery on a tank, if your not to loaded, i do it with 3 in a saloon, that way if you fill up there you should get the winter additive to stop your diesel going solid. The anorak in me cant help but give you this site for fuel prices www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr

Timbobaggins, yep easy drive - on motorways all the way Moutiers and then a short trip up the valley to La Ros

2 of our kids get travel sick, so we stop at Albertville and give them a tablet

I would have said 8.5 with stops for kids, however as it is all motorway and it is 536 miles you should be able to do it in about 7 hours but depends on your stopping strategy
