Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Airport hotel works out cheaper than airport parking!

Just tried this website on recommendation of one of my ski buddies:

www.airporthotels4u.co.uk

Found a single hotel room on there for the night before my departure (BHX 5am check-in!) including a week's car parking for £38.50! That's a few quid cheaper than off-site airport car parking alone and an extra hour's kip!

Just thought I'd share this good news and see if anyone else can benefit.

I had similar booking the Holiday Inn in Glasgow Airport, through the AA website - according to the booking, we have a triple room in the 'proper' HI, rather than the HIExpress, and for £45ish including 8 days' parking (15 days is hte same price). I think this works out a little more expensive for a week than just parking, but convenience is worth it, particularly as there is no drop-off at Glasgow anymore, so we would have had to get all bags, skis etc onto the shuttle bus.

For anyone flying from Edinburgh, I got 10 days parking in the MultiStorey opposite the terminal for about £40 in October, by booking in advance on the BAA website - again, that is only a road crossing from check-in.

We're flying from GTW on Saturday, and 3 of us are driving. We got a hotel just outside Gatwick (a Ramada), and a weeks parking, for £69, or £23 each. Parking alone was in the region of £30-40, so it seems a pretty good deal.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

It is always best to contact the hotel direct for best prices. (but not Holiday Inns)

We stay at a small independant hotel when we fly from Gatwick - £38 for bed, breakfast, transfers to the airport and a weeks car parking. Even if we're not flying til the afternoon we use it as its as pretty cost effective for parking...

I am pretty sure the premier inn/travelodge/ holiday inn, which ever it is, close to stansted on the A120 runs the same scheme because at times the field next to it is full of cars parked bumper to bumper...

With four adults and a 7am departure, it would cost us over £100 for rooms in hotel and still have to get up before 4am. Against £30 for parking, and breakfast in departures. Sad
Also some of the hotels are saying it's another £4 each to get the shuttle bus to the airport?
Sad

My booking is at the Hilton Metropole at the NEC. It's not something I've ever considered before as single rooms are rare in these establishments so I normally get stung for a double room price. Airparks car parking worked out at £44 and is 6 miles away from the airport. It still seems an amazingly good deal to me. Not only is it nearer to the airport but I get an extra hour's kip!

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

P.S. A direct enquiry on the Hilton website gives me a quote of £89!

queen bodecia, we used that same website back in November when we were flying from Heathrow. A taxi from Chichester is now about £70 each way and we ended up with a room and parking for a week for about £88, which is less than airport parking and meant not quite such a crack of dawn start to the day. I think it was the Thistle hotel, which was perfectly adequate for a night, bit squashed pineapple carpeting along the corridors, but quite comfortable and the hoppa bus picked us up on time to go to T5, Think that was £4 each, each way. I know we still had to put the diesel in to get there, but it still seemed a good deal to us.

Flying from Gatwick Sunday morning at 0620 - hotel Saturday night for 4 of us plus a weeks parking comes in at £49. We have to get a taxi to the airport which comes in at a £10 for the 4 of us, but the bus back is included.

Think its pretty good, and it gives us an extra 2 hours in bed.
