Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Reccomendations for a balaclava please

I'm considering getting a balaclava before heading to Les Arcs in a weeks time, where it looks like it could be a bit chilly.
This from Mountain Equipment is available at Ellis Brigham (though I'm in London, so other outlets I can get to are just as convenient)

Any other suggestions? I think Snow&Rock do a merino wool equivalent by Icebreaker.

I'd go for something made out of Powerstretch (or similar) together with a hat. That way it'll stay nice and flexible so you can turn your head.

Try the Turtle Fur WindTech Shellaclava.

Personally I'd go for a face mask. Balaclavas cover your nose and mouth so they get a bit wet & steamy round there - and then that gets cold and icy. Face masks have a little gap for your nostrils and little holes over your mouth, together with goggles & helmet - you'll be sorted Very Happy

What about a Polar Buff? (a long tube with a feece on the end of it) I found these great last year for me and all the family. You can turn them from a mask to a braclava to a scarf. Amazing They cost about £18.

Geeo - I'm more of a Bobba Fett man myself, but wookie fur does sound warm.
Cathy - good suggestion, this is probably what I will go for. Seems like you can pick up Zan Headgear masks on ebay very reasonably.

Or if there are any left in your local branches the Aldi and Lidl copies of the polar buff are just as good for a fraction of the price. At least one of the two chains has had them amongst their ski wear specials stock in the last month or so.
