Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced 4* hotel with a pool in Obertauern?
Many thanks, Pete

PeteMan, I can recommend the Schneider - unfortunately I wouldn't say it's reasonably priced anymore.
Tripadvisor etc seems ok for Hotel Zehnerkar/Obertauern so I'm taking a punt on that in April

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Cool. Is Hotel Zehnerkar/Obertauern cheaper than Schneider?

yes much. The week I'm going it's 685Euro including lift pass compared to was something like over 900 euro in the Schneider. we've got 2 kids under 6 that'll go free and I think we would have had to pay for them with the Schneider so it made quite a difference.
The Schneider is really nice though - true ski in/ski out.If I could afford it I'd go back.

Peteman, - cant say you will find any 'reasonably priced' 4 star in Obertauern. Have stayed at the Kohlmayer - brilliant but not cheap. We are staying this half term in the Glocknerin, recommended to me and looks good, and have put my money where my typing fingers are. We are paying Euro 1400 for a week for an appartment for 4. Its self catering, but has a restaurant if you want to pay for breakfast. Have a look. Having been to Obertauern I am aware of the Hotels biggest drawback, and that is that although just off the main road into the village, and definately ski in ski out, its a long walk to the village centre, but at least a relatively cheap taxi back down the hill. - This does not put me off obviously.

Stayed in the Enzian a couple of years ago which was excellent. Does have a pool but as we didn't venture much further than the bar I can't tell you how big it is.
To echo the above however, it was far from reasonably priced.

Marietta was quite nice, not quite ski in-out but very nearly, good/great food, great accommodation, ok pool though for some of the time we were there the water was too cold.

Thanks. Enzian and Marietta look really nice but I think I'd have to sell a kidney to pay for them. I was expecting to pay £1000 to £1500 HB for the three of us over New Year for a 4*. I'm thinking my expectations may be unrealistic.
Looks like it's back to investigating Schladming / Bride-les-Bains.
