Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I am heading out to pas dela casa, andorra on the 24th with some mates. I last skied 10 years ago, and that was the first and last time, am I better off going and starting beginner lessons from scratch or going balls out into the intermediate group? I only ask due to the £25 extra for intermediate meaning I get an area rather than local ski pass.

Or does anyone know if I can extend my lift pass when I'm out there?

Replies asap please!!!!

temitchell, welcome to snowheads. I'd got for the full area pass. You'll remember quite quickly, and technology has advanced quite a lot in the last ten years so the progression is measued in days not weeks

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Is there only 2 groups? Nothing in the middle?

temitchell, from my experience (not that much to be honest, but there is some!) if you are not at the correct level they will bump you down. Get the full area pass anyway and if you progress you can ski over there with your mates

As anotherproblem says the group refers only to the lessons, not the lift pass. You will be put in to the grousp apropriate to your level, and will be moved up or down if necessary. The lift pass is quite separate and even if you don't use the full area in your classes, you may fancy venturing further afield with your mates towards the end of the week

temitchell, do a couple of hours at a local dry slope before you go, to enhance your ability to be happy in intermediate group?

temitchell, are you talking about a beginners package? ie lessons. pass and hire all in one. If so then IIRC some TOs threaten to charge you the full rate if it turns out you're not a complete beginner. You are not a complete beginner, as nbt says it will come back quite quickly - I had an 8-year gap in my skiing and it took about a day to get back into it. Take SteveM's advice if you've got time and you won't even need a day. Better yet have a 1 or 2-hour private lesson when you get to Andorra (if you can find a friend or two to share the cost then all the better) and you'll be off with your more experienced mates by the second day.

Cheers guys. I think I will probably go with the intermediate. Yeah it is a beginner package, certainly don't want to get charges. I dry skied a while back and could still snowplough well, was just about getting back into paralell turns when I finished so I can't see a problem.

temitchell, why not go to your nearest dry slope/snow dome before you go and see if you still have the skillz?

temitchell, beginners bargain packages are definitely only for beginners - would be a false economy for you.
