Hi all,
Just to let you know about a short video which I have produced in association with IFMGA Mountain Guide Andy Perkins.
This is a short film highlighting some of the basic steps we can take to stay safe while skiing/boarding on glaciers and was produced for the Compagnie du Mont Blanc who will be showing it on the screens at Aiguille du Midi,Grands Montets throughout the winter.
This is NOT an instructional video but merely shows some of the steps we can take to minimise the risks in this environment.

I could do without the sound track - but it's a very good video - as I would expect from anything to do with Andy Perkins - one of the guides on a SCGB holiday I was on some years back.

Nice work. Funny how a lot of the stuff mentioned in that seems like pure common sense once you've a bit of understanding of how these things work. Yet i guess that's the kicker understanding how it works.

Hey frank4short, yes it is all common sense I guess, but amazing how many people leave it at home...! (As I'm sure you know)
Over 2 days of filming this we had:
- early Jan - on a not particularly filled in VB, loads of folks going by without so much as a pack on - no harness, no crevasse rescue kit, not even any sandwiches by the look of things... 
- late-April several parties of alpinists (who should know better) wandering unroped over a rapidly-softening snowbridge beside the hole we were filming the crevasse fall/rescue in (this was not long after the Ruby accident as well..) ...
