Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snowflex racing?

Is it possible? Have they found a way to get poles in? I was reading through old threads and someone (GrahamN?) mentioned something about putting poles in the seams but this doesn't seem ideal.

I know they have done it at Swadlincote - the poles have three metal bits on the bottom (kinda like a flat tripod) and you put them in the seams...... having officialed at a Kings race (Uni racing) there last year I would say it is indeed far from ideal!! But funny Toofy Grin nobody looked in control much, mostly people were skidding all over the place - particularly entertaining in the team triple slalom Laughing Mixed reviews afterwards - at least one very good dry slope racer I know said they would not go back but other people said it was really good fun. Anyhew, Kings are holding collegiates again there this year so I think those happy were in the majority. I guess it depends on your view - think some of the really good dendix racers didn't like the different surface, but those who are less experienced on the loo brush didn't notice or care so much. Arrows club was based at Swad but folded last year cos they weren't getting any new members in, tho I think I read in the piste magazine that there is a new club started up there now.....
Personally I wouldn't try it! Smile

vivski, so you're not aware of any clubs who regularly train on a snowflex slope?

vivski, I was just trying to figure out how these slopes survive during the summer - at Bromley the race club made up a substantial proportion of the regular summer users, we'd often have the slop to ourselves on a Saturday afternoon.

On Snowflex you put the pole in a stand which is a bit of mat with a bracketty thing on.

There's a slightly vague picture under features\slalom here http://www.snowflex.com/

I've been round poles using this system. Well most of the poles, got one ski round the last one and scared the spectators last April in the annual making a fool of yourself BKSP BKSP BKSP BKSP BKSP race day.
