in searching for some new goggles, I came across this website, in particular the large image in the centre of this page that caught my attention...

I just wondered if there are any helmets that look like this? or if not, where can I get one of them silly hats from that he has got on? (or is it infact a helmet?)
Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Helmets? I only see a wooly hat
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

yeah, I just wondered if there might be some kind of helmet that looks like that? seems like the logical next step for helmets to go in surely? to make them look less obvious...
Or alternatively, where can I get a hat that looks like that
It looks like a moss stich knitted creation - if you have an enterprising knitting granny (grandpa or politically correct relative) with a penchant for create her own patterns you might have a solution
Then you can post your own questions or snow reports...

If she can knit carbon fibre, even better.
Make cast of own head.
Get Gran to knit hat in CF.
Put hat on (fake) head.
Spray with resin.
Bake at gas mark 6 for an hour.
After all it is free

A helmet that thin wouldn't be much use anyway! Looks a bit like a tea-cosy, maybe you could borrow your grans for a bit.

aldoyle, go to the Serre Chevalier snow report section and the resident snowhead there (snowangel ?) makes specialised beanies (maybe even with that impact resistant stuff in it), otherwise you can buy them online
can an impact resistant beanie be considered as a replacement for a helmet coat .............
Ski the Net with snowHeads

Might be possible one day. That stuff is apparently impact absorbant - though I am not sure it could ever equate to the 10mm or so of helmet foam plastic currently used.
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

clever stuff, but I guess the foam cushioning you get in a helmet is always going to be needed to lessen the impact. With just a thin 'slice' of d3o material in between the wall/ground/ice/shovel and your head, I guess your always going to feel it!
