Off to La Rosiere on 9th Jan self catering, just wondered if anybody knew if there was a supermarket on route somewhere, i asume there will be one at the bottom of the valley somewhere. We norm buy everything in resort and spend a fortune but we are driving this year so thought wed stock up. A road name or town name etc would help, thanks

gav_in59, Best bet is Bourg St Maurice. There is a Lidl on the main road as you drive through and a huge Super U with cheap petrol at the end of Bourg on the roundabout just after Mc Donalds. (The Super U is so large it's pretty unmissable). Similarly there is a large Hypermarket in Albertville as you finish motorway and join naormal roads. (Also with cheap petrol). Sunday opening is restricted.
Take your own carrier bags. Shops in the Savoie do not supply them. By law ifirc.

gav_in59, I wouldn't stress about the bags you can buy 'reusable bags' pretty cheaply, and there's a big pile of boxes behind the checkouts (from deliveries etc) so you can just grab one or two of those and bob's your uncle.
Personally I prefer the super U in albertville when I'm en-route as it seems 'quicker' to get in, stock up and out as it's generally less busy, easy to park right out front and is more compact than the one in bourg. Take the exit after the big powerstation on the left. (31 perhaps!)

bertie bassett, Another vote for Super-U in Albertville. Even on Boxinf Day it wasn't too hectic, whereas the Carrefour in Moutiers was chokker according to my sister.

Chamnord in Chambery is pretty big - probably larger than anything nearer to La Ros.
