Poster: A snowHead

Hello everyone,
Off to Les Menuires this Saturday - very excited! We have been there before, and it was amazing from a skiing point of view, but last time had trouble finding anywhere to go for a drink in the evening without getting death stares from groups of French teenagers (at least that's what it felt like, I'm sure they were very friendly really).
Last time we were just below the La Croisette area, and wandered up there in the evening. However, this time we are in the Bruyeres area (Chalet L'Adonis if anyone's been before?) - wondered if anyone had any recommendations for bars to go to?? Not looking for anything too crazy, loud or late opening, but somewhere to sit in the evening for a relaxed beer/glass of wine without needing to order a meal would be lovely.
Thanks for you help!
Cxxx

a 2nd visit to Les Menuires? I think that must be unique.. Are you participating in some kind of Japanese endurance game?

I did a season there, really I don't see what the problem is with Meribel. Ok Croisette is pretty ugly, but Bruyere's an improvement, the skiings great, you've got easy access to the rest of the 3 valleys and without the price/ stuck up attitude of meribel etc...
Again La Ferme is the place to go. Beer, snacks and the set menu is awesome

CarlT, 5stitches, guys - don't get me wrong LesMen is better than nothing but really, I ask you... Have you been anywhere else to compare it against - particularly anywhere outside France? Try a week/season in Lech or St Anton or Davos or Verbier or, well anywhere else really and then tell me what you think of the plughole of the 3V

Third for La Ferme - also there is a croque place in th emiddle of town (by the bridges down to the La Masse lifts) that is cheap and good for a snack lunch. Lots of people seem to like the Tex Mex in the centre but didn't do it for me.

Frosty the Snowman, last year - stayed in Mottaret (which I quite liked).
Perhaps I have some particularly peculiar aversion to the place, but it does seem odd to go back there 3 times when other places have so much more to offer

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

We like it because - it is high, gives easy access to Val T, is a nice easy drive from Calais, its much cheaper than the rest of the 3V and best of all its not full of p1ssed up Brits!

CarlT, well yes, but the ugliness - how do you cope with that? And the 3V itself - do you not get bored with it - don't you hanker for somehwere new to explore?

You know it makes sense.

Another vote for the "Ferme" in Reberty. Mrs Snowplough assures me the Vin Chaud served is the best value in the entire 3 Valleys! Very friendly staff, and very efficient service. Chalet-mates last week also spoke highly of it.
Good though it is, a return to Les Menuires is unlikely, except if last minute cheap offers beckon. Hang on a sec - that's why we went the first time!
