Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Cairngorm mountain has opened for sliding today, the first in Scotland. And snow appears to be accumulating in the West too. ...

12.00 update
Weather 10 -20mph N.E minus 2.0c A wee bit of fresh overnight has improved skiiing conditions. Further updates to come. Car park icy - drive with care please. Heavy overnight icing on the tows at the top has set us back slightly. Ciste tow is now up and running Winds are not as bad as we thought. There is a great pisted run on the fairway and the Ptarmigan Bowl is in reasonable condition, if we get the forecasted prolonged showers things should improve greatly. For people wanting to skin up there is a pisted track from the last Zig up to the top but the rest of the ZZ's are gravelly slush. Please note there is no HIRE available on site this weekend. Please hire in the village

Ptarmigan Tow was open in the morning with the Ciste Tow coming on at lunchtime. All Top Basin runs open and complete with fantastic snow/cover on the Ciste Fairway, really well drifted in with the fence lines loaded for opening day.

With a couple of stretches of combat skiing I notched up the first full length decent of the M1 RaceTrack, if we get some more snow over the next couple of days to a couple of hundred feet lower than last weeks some middle runs/uplift could go. Upper Cas could just about go at the moment, indeed fence depth drifts in places on it.

^Ptarmigan Tow doing it's thing for the first day of the 2009/10 Season.

Snow down to Loch Morlich today (Monday 30th November) with the cams at the bottom of the White Lady showing more snow accumulating with continued cold temperatures and more snow forecast over the next few days.

Cairngorm was closed for sliding today though because there aren't enough midweek snowsport customers at the moment, according to the Cairngorm website:
Quote:
For early December CairnGorm Mountain is committed to running lifts and tows for weekend skiing (Saturday and Sundays) and we will review midweek skiing on a daily basis. There is sufficient snow at present to operate both the Ciste and Ptarmigan lifts but there is insufficient snow for a run from the top to the middle. The level of midweek demand from customers is being monitored. At present levels of interest a midweek skiing operation is not commercially viable. We will review interest levels and conditions daily as we move forward through December.

Bets are on for which Scottish resort will be next to open!

Not sure about that BBC forecast but Cairngorm is open for snowsports tomorrow, from the Cairngorm Mountain website:
Quote:
Information for Thursday 3rd December:
Weather permitting we intend to offer some snowsports with skiing and boarding from the top to the middle and use of the M1 poma back to the top but NO middle station stops. The Ciste Bowl will also be open. Early season conditions apply with some good snow in places but also quite a lot of rocks visible, and therefore will be for intermediate to experts only and no beginners.
Weather forecast for Thursday: Some light rain or snow showers possibly, and generally cloudy all day with little or no sun.
