Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Self Catering in Hinterglemm

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
We’re going on a self catering holiday to Hinterglemm next February and I was wondering if anyone who’s been there before could answer a question about it.

Ordinarily a self catering holiday to me means eating out at night, but on this occasion we’re planning on staying in the apartment and making our own meals.

Are there any large supermarkets in the area where we can get a good variety of supplies or is it a case of a small Spar with a few basics in the resort and/or a half hour drive to find a bigger supermarket?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

We stayed there in February; there was a place called "Nah und Frisch" which was a mini supermarket; it had a meat and cheese counter, fresh bread plus a decent selection of other foods. You could probably get by with it for a week, but its not ideal, f you can find (and get to) a bigger supermarket out of town you would be better off using that.

If you are driving in from Salzburg, you'll pass a massive Interspar in Saalfelden. It's on the first of the roundabouts you come to.
