Hi,
I'm 42 year old female looking for company to go skiing with preferably over the New Year period. Have only been once before so still consider myself a beginner.
Dont mind where I go although would like somewhere with a bit of lively apres ski!
Anyone looking to go at this time?

Hi Andrea,
Im a bloke ( will that be a problem??) Please see my entry in the forum, and if interested get in touch ok. I am going to take the other snowheads advice, and get lessons so it could be good for both of us to meet other skiiers. I have checked out the chalet site that has been linked to your entry at Chamonix and Morzine. would you be interested in going to one of them?

Steve,
Thanks for the reply. The chalet does interest me but looking at costs of flights etc I notice that you have a beginners week on 3rd January. Flights cheaper then and think maybe that would be the better option if there are still places available?
Troy,
It would be good to have other people to ski with....have you seen the beginners week on 3rd January...seems good value for money with everything included. Dont know if that interests you?

Hi Troy and Steve,
Steve...the chalet does sound good. I have found a couple of other options I am also looking into but this is definate possibility. Are the places left in twin room allocated to share with same sex or individual rooms? How many are booked and can you tell me if all solo skiers? Also, I note that transfers are included ...is it necessary to get a particular flight or will you collect at any time?
Troy...been looking at flights and it seems to be Easyjet that fly to Geneva. As I live in Cornwall Bristol is closest for me but the London flights are quite a bit cheaper so I would quite probably travel up to London...Luton seems cheaper than Gatwick

Hi Troy and Andrea,
Thanks for your e-mail.
We currently only have two male places left for the dates of 3rd – 10th Jan in Morzine. These places are in a twin bedroom with en-suite based on two people sharing. Room allocation is based on gender and age range.
In this case you could both share the twin bedroom if you wish…. Can you please confirm that you are both males?
Everyone travelling on this holiday is travelling alone….ColdFusion caters exclusively for people travelling alone and we can guarantee that you will be with other singles whichever week you choose. The people we accommodate are social people looking to enjoy a traditional chalet holiday with a ready-made group of friends to ski/snowboard with during the day and to socialise with in the evenings.
We ask that you book your own flights to and from Geneva Airport in Switzerland. Budget airlines such as Easy Jet and BMI Baby offer cheap and frequent flights out of the UK throughout the winter season. We have no restrictions on the time you choose to arrive and depart. We arrange your airport transfers around your flight times, giving you flexibility to shop around and find flight times which suit you. Simply send us your flight details and we guarantee there will be someone at the airport to meet you when you land and to wave goodbye when you leave.
I hope this information is of help but if you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to contact us on 0033 670 560 676 or via e-mail at info@coldfusionchalets.co.uk
Kind Regards,
Steve

Hi Andrea,
Great news, I can make the week of the 3rd -10th January.
Looks like unless you either share with me !! or change Gender we cant book into the cold fusion challet together, or have I missread it ? I feel a tad cheezed at the news, but would rather stick with you as a ski buddy, seeing that its my first time skiing abroad and it was your forum post that I replied to, ( it would be good to hear of your alternative accomodation options).
I will spend more time this evening searching for an alternative. Keep in touch, PS Luton will be fine for me too

We still have availability in our Chamonix Chalets for the dates of 3rd – 10th Jan and can accommodate you in separate bedrooms – sorry I didn’t realise you were 1 male and 1 female.
We do accommodate beginners on any week throughout the whole winter season and can happily arrange your lessons, ski hire, ski pass, etc
We have also had another couple of people trying to book onto the beginners course in Morzine from the 3rd – 10th Jan but due to the limited availability they have opted to come to Chamonix instead and book onto beginner group lessons. Hi Troy and Steve,
Well thats me out of the beginners week in Morzine unfortunately!!! The other trip you mention Steve sounds ok but it does appears that it is going to cost a lot more money by the time the cost of a lift pass is added on? Could you confirm that please?
Troy....other research I've done....looking at another site...
www.adventura.com
They have a holiday going on 9th Jan to Passo Tonale in Italy.(dont know if that date too late for you?)...its for solo skiers staying in a hotel, Cost is £539 including a lift pass ...just ski hire and lessons then flight costs to add which seem reasonable? There are flights from Stansted with Ryanair which if you take they will include free transfers.
Also have you seen
www.pistepals.com
They have a solo skiers chalet in Morzine commencing 2nd January...details are on their site and it maybe worth considering...flights to geneva with Easyjet again and Luton seems cheaper than Gatwick.
Also, have you been on to the Neilson website as they also have a solo skiers forum....have replied to another solo beginner skier (female) on there who is looking to go at the same time....maybe we could all book same place and meet up at the airport?
Let me know what you think (ps pistepals also have a forum)
Andrea

AJX18, you might like to have a look at the holidays offered by UCPA (and accessible as a package from the UK through http://action-outdoors.co.uk/
Their holidays are all inclusive. Some places have small "dorms" (same sex) and some also have double room options, at a small supplement. The holidays are very good value and very sociable - shouldn't be any problem finding people to socialise with. You might be too old though (I certainly am...)- check their rules. On quiet weeks they might be flexible on age; worth a try.

Hi Andrea,
I cant seem to register on the Neilson site !!! ( maybe its because I dont have a photo to upload on this ( new) computer).. I have read your entries in the forum but cant reply ,, as yet.
I would be happy to head off on the 2nd of January. I have pushed the limits to get the 3rd to the 10th off work. So the 9th onwards will be impossible. ( my company closes for two weeks over the xmas period and I have responsibilities to my customers.) Its great that you may have another beginner on board, the more the merrier.
Im just going to try and join in on the Piste pals forum

Hey folks,
I'm a bit behind with the conversation, but we run trips to Morzine also. Ideal for solo travellers and we have a couple of beginner weeks lined up.
Take a look and see what you reckon
Cheers
