Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Restaurant recommendations in Wengen?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Does anyone have any restaurant recommendations for Wengen please (in the village, for the evenings)? We are staying in an apartment but will want to go out for dinner once or twice - including once for our wedding anniversary. I have done a search for restaurant AND wengen which produced no hits - sorry if the info is somewhere in the 155+ Jungfrau thread! Thanks very much in advance.

Hmm Several of the hotels have nice restaurants depending on what you are after.

The Baren does good food as does the Alpenrose, The Regina has a very smart (and expensive) image but I have no idea how good the food is and the Hirshen always used to have a good reputation for its food but I've not eaten in there in a while.

NatalieG, On the main street you will find the Bernerhof Hotel has a restaurant that does some good fondues (both cheese and meat ones), Raclettes and other specialities such as Pierrades/Feuerstein (where you cook the meal at your table on a hot rock! If you've not used one before the secret is to sprinkle a little salt onto to the stone to stop the meat from sticking to it Madeye-Smiley ). Nearby there is a good pizza restaurant. Also Sina's Place is popular.
Of course many of the major hotels have restaurants open to non residents. I've never eaten at the Falken, but you might care to go there one evening when their resident jazz pianist Al Copley has a post dinner session in their lounge bar.

PS As D G Orf says, the Alpenrose Hotel restaurant does very good food - one night each week they have a special buffet meal which really is outstanding, I would recommend finding out which day of the week it is on and booking it.

Thanks for the suggestions. Not really after very smart and expensive, just good food and a nice atmosphere. Have had a quick look at the Alpenrose website and from the photos (including one of a menu!) it looks just the ticket. We're going with friends so the buffet or indeed the other recommendations sound good for going out one night with them too. Thanks again!
