Hi, first post on here.
I'm going away in February to Les Arcs and I'm trying to convince my wife to go away in Mid-April the weekend of12th/13th. My query has a two parts.
1. The resort that sticks out on the usual websites is Avoriaz. Short transfer time, decent price and I know the place as I went to Morzine many moons ago. My only concern is the weather, I'm not too bothered if the likes of Morzine and Les Gets are closed or un-skiable as Avoriaz will have plenty of slopes for my kids. I just fear that it's not as snow sure as other resorts like Val Thorens or Tignes. If anyone has any other recommendations i'm all ears but i've searched all the high altitude places and resorts in other countries are coming out at a higher price.
2. Looking on the major websites I've always found Crystal and Heidi to be way cheaper than the rest, I've tried looking at flight prices, transfers (which are always really pricy) and accommodation separate but it comes in at a higher price than through Heidi/crystal. I don't know if there's anyone who has any experience of booking holidays this way. I'm travelling from the North-East of England with 2 young kids so eurostar or anything like that isn't really an option.

There's no two ways about, the top lifts in Val Thorens and Tignes top out at over 1000m higher than anything I'm Avoriaz and in mid April that 1000m is going to make a big difference. There's a reason that Avoriaz is cheap for the dates that you're looking at.
Les Menuires or Orelle are probably your best bets for high altitude and good value that week. Some of the Les Menuires skiing should still be good in its own right that week, particularly the Masse sector, plus both have easy access to Val Thorens

Thanks for the reply, never really heard of Les Menuires before but this looks a viable option. Doesn't look the prettiest but will certainly do for a cheap and cheerful.

Ive been to Cervinia in Italy in April and it was great .We stayed in a Airbnb and Hotel Europa
You also have the possibility to ski into Zermatt Switzerland .

I’m not completely sure that it is happening. You might have to ask @admin. However, the thread has many interesting family related Skiing comments and families looking to meet up at Easter 2025 probably worth a read given your question.

We have skied Avoriaz 4 times at Easter (in the last 7 years) and every time it was perfectly skiable, we had fresh snow twice and one year it was mega hot (16C+) so it was v slushy after about 230pm.
We’ve booked Cervinia for next Easter, just my son and I next year so gone for a comparatively bargain half board package with Crystal. First package holiday since 2002!
