Poster: A snowHead

Require recommendations on makes/models of ladies ski boots that would be suitable for feet with high insteps. Have looked at the Atomic hawk magna, however the foot is medium width with a very high instep. Will be purchasing from a bootfitter but any prior advise would be appreciated.

Baseboards inside boots are generally flat. You need a decent bootfitter who can make a decent footbed e.g. @CEM at Solutions 4 feet

Tell us where you are located and you'll get a recommendation. Going in with preconceptions about particular boots isn't really helpful – as above, you'll need a good custom footbed, but you also need a boot that will accommodate the foot without crushing it. Someone looking at your feet will be able to advise on that better than anyone online, but ultimately you need to put the boots on for long enough to find out if there's likely to be a problem, and then you still might need a bit of modding.

@ymh, there are numerous options out there with a reasonable instep height, and with the correct tools a good boot fitter can create a lot more space over the top of the foot... (if the boot fitter starts out by reaching for the base board to grind down please leave they don't have a clue, that's the last thing you do and only if nothing else will work) the shell can be moulded upwards, the tongue of the liner can be modified, the liner can be changed for a custom one
the key is balancing the overall foot measurements and the instep height and the heel instep perimeter to get the best overall fit, assessment of the ankle joint range of motion (often inhibited on a cavus foot with a high instep)... if you have a medium width foot DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THE HAWX MAGNA this boot is used as a "fix all" by boot sellers, of all the boots we sell (yes it is on the rack) it is the single boot last shape we sell least of

This is me. Very high instep. I wear Nordica wide fit. Had then for over 10 yrs though so not sure if it is a current brans. Can't go and look as they are in the ski locker in Les Carroz. Typing that makes me feel sad. I am normally haunting the weather thread by now as we were due to head out a month today.
