Hi looking to buy these skis has anyone got any feedback on them aswell as k2 themselves as i have never used k2 skis before

chelt881, can't imagine why you would consider buying skis you haven't tried (would you buy a car you hadn't taken for a test drive?) but anyway... I rather like the Apaches, and the Xplorer is a nice ski. Any more than that isn't worth comment without knowing your experience, style, height, weight, terrain preference... in fact, are you sure you want to be buying skis?

Hi I bought a pair 2 weeks ago. I am 5'8", 90kg been sking for ever, but only manage a couple of trips a year these days. I bought the Xplorer's to replace Recon's. I have only tried them at the Chill Factor so far but first impressions are good. Easy turn initiation and easy edge to edge carve. They can be skidded easily at the end of the turn to reduce speed.
I used to carry at stupid amount of skis (at 1 point I had Salomon Crossmax & Streetracer, K2 Recons and Bandit B3's) But I have been using the Recons more and more and really like them. I think the slightly wider Xplorer's will give me a true all mountain ski for all but the best powder days.
I would demo them first, even if its only in a dome.

Assuming you're on a gap year course type thing? Find a way to get two pairs - slalom/gs type things for piste skiing, and something fat (I hear Fernie gets lots of snow!). If you don't buy two, you almost certianly will end up with another pair later.
If you can really only afford one, I'd say go for something fatter for the powder - frankly for the first levels of many instructing systems you can get away with any sort of skis, you're demos are mianly gonna be easy snowploughy/parralelly type stuff. Also a softer backcountry and/or twintip will be easier for teaching beginners, being softer and better switch. Plus more fun for you're freeskiing.

Cheers guys the main reason for the choice of the k2 was because the company im going out with partner with ski shops in fernie and they all seem to recommend either the k2 apache xplorer or the recons however if you know of a similar ski then please suggest

I love my recons. They're not the fattest all mountain ski nor the lightest either but they're versatile and bulletproof.
