Arabba is well located and a cracking village. Selva is the pick of the bunch on the SR, but fetches a premium accordingly. The other Val Gardena villages of Ortisei and St. Christina are well worth a visit, preferable to Canazei in my book.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Hi the grafter, Arabba is well located to access the quieter parts of the Sella Ronda area, between Monte Cherz & Piz Sorega and over Passo Padon to the Marmolada, some challenging pistes off Porta Vescovo and Sass Pordoi, check out the piste map. A good spot to enjoy the skiing, but a little quiet in the evenings, I've heard.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

the grafter, Arabba is a very good location if skiing is your main requirement but not if you seek the hectic night life.

Not so much the hectic nightlife but a few good bars with perhaps live music,or would it be better going to Selva.

the grafter, Have been to Arabba the last three years and not come across any live music. There are some nice bars but they are the sit down and have a drink type bars. There was bar with music in the basement of one of the hotels but this seemed to be for people under twenty!

the grafter, you could also pm sueski who lives & works each winter there & has a small business helping d.i.y. skiers with accomodation, transfers etc. Used her last year & will be doing so again this year

Selva probably has the most going on in the eves, although Canazei is OK also.

the grafter, like nickH, we have also used sueski who is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area, as well as being a lovely person. She has a stand at the Metro Ski Show this year and I believe is showcasing the nearby resort of Zoldo in the Civetta area (in addition to her normal involvement with Arabba), which is covered on the DolomitiSuperSki pass. We are hopefully going to meet up with her at the show.

You know it makes sense.

Arabba is certainly the best skiing, if you are a good skier, but very small and quiet. There is actually some good off piste tree skiing over on the Selva side, if you know where to look.

True, but it's no big deal to stay in Selva and flip over Dantercepies and down through the valley to Arabba. That way you get to sample the delights of Disco Dancing Dali.

That may be, but the best big, open face off-piste is on the Marmolada.
