Poster: A snowHead

Back on night shift, dreaming of snow now that the summer is over.
I stumbled across an ad for this hotel, seems OK, but I cannot find any reviews on it.
Anyone got an opinion on it.

Basic but comfortable, right in the middle of resort. It's being run by the people who have Smokey Joe's.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

What Lizzard said. Bedrooms can be kind of small but is clean and comfortable. They will take bookings by the night rather than the week.

I remember this one but hopefully they don't remember me !! Stayed there many moons ago (late eighties / early nineties maybe). It was a pretty wild week culiminating in a bit of a disaster on the last night. I could tell the story but it's rather long - even longer than the version below - so to cut to the chase I accidentally broke the cistern in the middle of the night (I was very pissed and fell over). The toilet was then of course leaking and I couldn't get the lid off to stop it continually filling up / leaking so I had the bright idea of screwing the little brass valve on the side that most cisterns in Europe appear to have thinking it would turn off the water supply. DON'T EVER DO THIS !! I actually unscrewed the valve which shot out from the force of the water pressure into a pitch black room and a 1m+ jet of water proceeded to fill up the bedroom. After what seemed ages, I managed to find the valve and sort out the cistern by which time a huge amount of water had come out of the pipe into the room. I reckon it must have had concrete floors as I there was probably more than a few inches as I had to soak it up using the spare blankets and ring it out over the balcony. Needless to say I sobered up v. quickly. I left very rapidly after sleeping in and almost missing the bus from the resort and never told the hotel about any of this - I had sorted out the hotel on arrival in resort via a blagged trip on a TO bus from the airport and paid cash
I think at the time the hotel was run by a TO (Thompson maybe). About 10 years later I was speaking to someone who had worked there that season and they remembered the room being flooded by someone.

Swirly, fancy sharing the rest of the Cretes story, it may convince people to stay/avoid there instead ...? (Slight thread highjack but awesome walls soon so I can hear about these season plans!)

kristof, Swirly, I think the Cretes story is best left in a dark box at the bottom of a well. Until I get drunk and go "guess what Swirly did."
On the other matter we have got a 4 bed shoebox in Nendaz. Chosen for better powder day access into the Verbier lift system and price (4500CHF the season). I bought the skipass two days ago. All that is left now is insurance and we're all set.
Give me a call if you want to book some space. I think Scottishskier is looking at Dec/March. It is going to be kind of cramped for 3/4 but it is defo bigger than the one we had last season.
