Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Any comments on travelling around the Milky Way, especially whether it's feasible travelling to and from Claviere/Montgenevre. Are going to be based in Sestriere. Any other comments on the area?

Hi,
We’ve done the Sauze d’Oulx to Montgeneve return trip twice now (Sestriere is closer).
First time (2006) it took so long to get there (I fell off the almost top of the long black drag lifting out of the Sauze bowl) that we just had time for a beer and something to eat before we had to leave for the return trip.
Second time (Jan this year) no need for the black drag (new lift), got there in plenty of time to ski (some of) Montgeneve, another beer & food. Left Montgeneve at around 2:30 which was really too late (different story). Link to GPS trackof our day:

Would recommend using the ‘
recommended route
’ shown on the French piste map.
We found it all well linked.
Have fun.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

, Thanks for this, the GPS link was very interesting. In some resorts we have found the lifts close quite early eg, 4pm in Obergurgl on a recent trip. Is this the case in the Milky Way?
How did you find the skiing in Sestriere? Looks fairly limited and a lot of drag lifts!

Yep, the 'Franiteve' drag(s) in San Sicario closed at 4:15 for example, and we got there at 4:30 (different story, but they let us lift anyway)

No, not many drags at all in Sestriere, most only to the higher black pistes (mens downhill for example). We found that a day there more than enough to 'do' the whole resort a number of times, depends on what someone would call limited. Resort itself is not the prettiest to look at, but we've never been into the resort centre so can't comment on that.
