Couldn't find an existing thread so...
Some snow is forecast for today. A dusting if you believe snow-forecast, or about a foot and a half if you believe j2ski.
Nothing on the webcams yet, the suspense is killing me.

Looks like there was only the lightest of light dustings from the look of the Riffelberg and Trockener Steg webcams (and Plan Maison on the Cervinia side).

I'm off to Zermatt at the end of November for the annual Ski Festival - 3.5 days in the Mont Cervin hotel and all the new skis to play with!
If anyone's interested, here's a link to the pdf (it's, unfortunately, only in German): http://www.snowactive.ch/_leser/08-mai/Ski-Festival.pdf

Zermatt is white from top to bottom this morning.
About 5 - 30cm.
Cervinia is still green.

Hi guys. Quick question if you don't mind I am thinking of booking a ski holiday for mid-december. Lack of snow is my major concern. Do you think I would be safe with Zermatt? And are there any other resorts in Europe that guarantee plenty of the white stuff?

pete7777, welcome to snowHeads. Zermatt is probably as good as any European resort for booking early season trips in advance. Alternatively you might want to wait until much closer to your trip then 'follow the snow'. Pre-Christmas you shouldn't have any problems finding accommodation, so even if you book your flights now you could easily leave it until the week prior to your trip before deciding which resorts offers the best conditions.

Snow showing right down into the resort now on the webcams where previously it was just a bit wet, and same in Cervinia too.

Should be safe with Zermatt - you seen the webcams at the mo!? Ooodles of the white stuff comin' down right now (Cervinia also!) Should be a good base for the coming season unless there's a heatwave.

Not looking quite so rosy lower down in Zermatt. At resort level things are looking quite green and the Findeln webcam shows evidence of a lot of melt (it was looking beautiful a couple of days ago).
Early days yet though

The sky has cleared and the webcams look awesome today. The snaps of Schwarzsee, Riffelberg and Rothorn are enough to make a man weep.
Stay cold now, please!

paulio, I'm often a bit slow, and you've probably already realised, but if you put up the map of the positions of the Zermatt webcams, you can simply hover your mouse over the camera positions to see their images

Just back. Two fantastic days. All three paradises open and plenty of skiing. Snow in wonderful condition. Not much off piste yet. Yesterday I skied 8,000m vertical and only repeated one run once and that included lunch in Chez Vrony. Possible to ski down to Zematt from Schwazrsee and via closed runs in Gornergrat and Sunnega. Yesterday was windy so international links closed but managed to get to the Gandegg Hutte for jagertee which I've never managed before at this time of year.
