Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Week end Accommodation

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hallo,

I am going to be based in Paris for 12 weeks. I would like to go snowboarding in Les Deux Alpes or wherever is convenient at the weekend. From reading your website I understand that it is possible for me to take a train from Paris to Grenoble and then a bus to Les Deux.
Hence I am looking for a single bed in a dorm (or whatever is available) for 2 nights for any of the following weekends: March 4th- 6th, March 11th – 13th and/or March 18th – March 19th........ or any other w-ends that there might be availability.

Is it possible to find reasonable priced accommodation in the resorts for just one or two nights at the weekend????
Any ideas, suggestions????

All help would be appreciated as it is not often that u get a chance to be based in a country bang in the middle of the season that offers the possibility for boarding at the weekend. It's a bummer coming from Ireland....

Loads too much trouble I'd have thought, from Paris can you not got to La Fayet or Bourg-st-Maurice direct?

Cheers for the reply. I only got word on Friday that I will be working in PAris for 12 weeks so I'm just thinking out loud. I was actually in the middle of booking a week in Les Deux before I got told that I was off to Paris. Since I', nearer the mountians than if I was at home, it would be great to get a couple of w-endd boarding in. I have never being boarding in France so......... I guess I need to research more and / or get advice oin thebest optiond for weekends near Paris.... all depends on where I can get reasonable accommodation for 2 nights only...

abbey, I would have thought you might manage in March, particularly if you stay down in the valley (e.g.Bourg St Maurice), you can get the train straight there. You then have quite a choice where to ski, but have a funicular up into Les Arcs (great for boarding), and can then also 'board' in La Plagne.

abbey, welcome to snowHead snowHeads snowHead I'd suggest the train to Bourg St Maurice overnight Friday then try snowHead Chaletarc for accommodation down in Peisey Nancroix - he/she has a hostel type, low budget place. http://www.chaletarc.co.uk/ Good access to Les Arcs from Nancroix or over the Vanoise Express to La Plagne.

Abbey, don't let them put you off - just had a very good girlfriend make the same journey with 15month, 12 year and husband. Paris straight to Grenoble stops only once at Lyon, no change just under 3 hours. Bus stop at Grenoble jsut next to train station, 5 euros bus straight up to either Alpe d'Huez or Deux Alpes very easy - if you'd like a hand with accommodation ADH, I can point you in the right direction of a comfortable, cheapish hotel, almost on the slopes!!

www.sncf.com for the trains, bus timetable from Grenoble found at www.vfd.fr www.holidayalps.com is the hotel I mentioned (it is a bit of a party place - being close to The Underground Bar), if not I'm found at www.mountain-logistics.net and might also be able to help on the accommodation front!

That sounds pretty good for you Abbey. Otherwise I know that there is a youth hostel in Tignes which I'm sure will do just a couple of nights. Failing that the villages along the bottom of the Tarentaise valley all have little hotels and buses up the mountain each morning which are quite cheap and frequent. Enjoy!

abbey, I agree with sarah@alpedhuez, don't be put off by all the Tarentaise mob! From Paris the train to Grenoble is only 2.75 hrs and very comfy. The bus to either here or to ADH is about 1.5 hours and can be looked as sarah@alpedhuez, has indicated.

In LDA, we have an Auberge de Jeunesse (youth hostel) which could undoubtedly accommodate you cheaply (sand the grub is pretty decent), also 2 UCPA place which are similar. I think you can check them out on www.UCPA.com

If you come up here give me a bell (find my number on my website www.easiski.com, also resort info) or from the local Tourist Office snowHead snowHead
