Just completed the BASI Level 2 course in Les Gets and happily I passed. This is in no small measure due to the support, encouragement, shadowing and inspired teaching I have received from a number of people this season. Without turning this into my version of a weepy Oscar Acceptance Speech I'd like to express my appreciation to the following people: PhillipStanton, stewart woodward, skimottaret, Spyderman, Phil Smith & Emma Carrick Anderson (Snoworks), John Thomas & Ruth Mosely (New Generation, Les Arcs), Gareth Roberts (Ski Supreme, Courchevel), Mark Jones (ICE, Val d'Isere) and Hugh Monney (BASS, Les Gets). Thanks guys!

skimottaret, not the best in the group, somewhere in the middle I'd guess especially when in bumps. It was a good group, great to ski with and mostly at a similar standard. We lost one guy to injury and another failed, but 8 good passes I'd say. It was a pleasure to ski with them.

beanie1, thanks, Milton Keynes for the time being, working towards 200 hours. Beyond that, who knows...?
Spyderman, not if we were skiing it wasn't I wore my white jacket for most of the course but thought I'd ring the changes for the last few days. Fortunately my red one doesn't have BASI emblazened across the back.

Kitty, it's a great price that BASI are selling the jackets for isn't it. Has he stuck a Spyder badge on it? Commiserations on not getting to the start line for your L2 this season.
ski, unlikely I'll race, but I might try to get back into training. I've had to drop out of the Aldershot setup since November because I've focused on the BASI stuff, and now I'm keen to start collecting 200 hours of teaching towards ISIA, so not sure where the racing fits in to this.
Nick L, chocolat vert - excellent, I'm already looking forward to indulging in that particular bad habit!

rob@rar, I've not met you before obviously like some of these other have, but.....Congratulations!! By the way which one are you in the photo and is there any other Snowheads in the photo with you??
If you don't mind me asking rob@rar, , where did you do your L1?
I know you have to do 35 hours of teaching in order to qualify for L1 and therefore be able to move on to L2 but can you do 70 hours of teaching whilst still at L1 before you go for L2 and have already done it all for L2? Does it matter if the teaching hours are all together or separate?

BTW I notice that it is all men in the photo that have qualified to L2. Are there more male ski instructors than females as there seems to be from what I can gather?

VolklAttivaS5, thanks. I'm in the red jacket, front row. No other snowHeads in the group unless they maintain a secret identity
I did the L1 in Val d'Isere in December. You have to do 70 hours of shadowing (technically ski school experience, which has a broader definition than shadowing) before you can start your L2 course. You need to confirm the shadowing with BASI before you start the course. You also nedd to have done the Child Protection module and a 2-day 1st Aid course before you start the L2.

rob@rar, Ok. Yes, sorry I meant shadowing/ski school experience rather than ski teaching. Ok so you do the 70 hours shadowing before going onto the L2, I knew already about the CP module and the 2 day FA course before being able to start the L2. Did you pick the Val d'Isere L1 course and Les Gets L2 course off the BASI website under Calendar or were those courses run by another company but you still qualify as BASI 2? Thanks for the info!
