 happily looking forward to second trip to Arcs 1800 in March. Know a little about the place but would love to hear from any SnowHeads out there that have spent more than a little time there and have come across the best it has to offer:
What is your favourite restaurant? average price per meal? style of food? atmosphere (romantic/quiet/noisy/out of control etc)
Favourite bar and why?
Any personal favourites when it comes to ski instructors / ski school?
Any personal favourites when it comes to hiring equipment?
Favourite run / area of off-piste and how to get there?
Least favourite aspect of the resort?

doogo, I've been there for one week a few years ago and loved the area above Peisey Villandry for its tree runs that provide plenty of powder runs through the trees when the conditions allow.
Also liked the area above 1600 for minor off piste potential - a low-incline powder playground.

Favourite runs were the red and black of grand col above Arc 2000.
Restaurant - a good location for meeting lots of different groups was l'arpette - below the snow park in 1800 (beginners and advanced could get to it! and the food was plentiful and fairly good value)
Definitely echo Tony's recomendation above peisey - some fantastic blue and red runs. And the restaurant in this area (can't remember name) did excellent hot chocolate
Loved Les Arcs - its the best of all the large french resorts for me. Want to check out some new places over next few years, but I will go back one day. (Possibly for an anniversary as i met my fiance there last year!!!!)

Le Ferme restaurant in Villaroger is very nice. It's a traditional French farming village, and the pistes down to it are normally away from the crowds that congregate around some of the runs above 1800 and Peisey/Vallandry. The L'Arpette is a good self-service restaurant, but get there early or late as the queues can get very bad there during the main lunch period.
If you can get top Vallandry a good ski school is New Generation. It's a small British ski school which is developing a good reputation (www.skinewgen.com). Can't help with hiring kit.

I'll second L'Arpette and the advice about early ort late. The slopes are noticeably quieter between 12-2pm anyway.

The Chalet Des Arcs was very reasonably priced compared to some of the places in Arc 2000 etc. and the staff were very friendly. Shame we only tried it out towards the end of our trip! The Altiport at the bottom of the Arpette lift was very reasonably priced with a great view over the valley.
Best run? I'd say the red off the top of the Varet, not sure what it's called but it joins the Arrandelieres blue run back to Arc 2000 - well groomed, in the sun, wide and not too steep - superb fun!
