Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A beginner Ski Tourer asks:

I've come across some Fritschi Diamir Explore Bindings from a couple of years ago that seem good value. I plan to mount them on some old 1080's - Is that model any good ?

The pic I've seen seems to show they don't come with ski breaks. Is this usually the case and are they usually available as an accessory ?

Also, I read that they can be adjusted for DIN - I take it that it must be a screw adjustment on the front ?

Cheers Very Happy

david@mediacopy, you will easily be able to get brakes for them, most people I know with them have the brakes, I suggest they were originally supplied to without breaks to justify the difference in weight and price with the Freeride model.

You can adjust the DIN on them, it's very easy. The screw is at the front parallel with the ski for the toe DIN, one on the heel piece. I suspect the screw you refer to is to adjust the toe height, these bindings can be adjusted to take normal (ISO / DIN) alpine soles or touring soles.

What length 1080s? I have a pair of brand new skins cut for some 1080s that I want to get rid of...

david@mediacopy, the skins are actually for a longer version but would be very easy to trim to fit yours. Send me a PM if you are interested...
