Poster: A snowHead

Anyone interested in clocking up megamiles in La Plagne in the first week of March? I’m with a group of beginner skiers & boarders but I want to head off to try out all the reds and blacks and as much off piste as possible. Not keen on trying it all alone though, anyone else in the same boat?
Right now, I’m perfecting my snow dance – It worked last year!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Paddyblack, Welcome to snowheads.
I just spent 8-15 Jan in Belle Plagne - be warned, there ain't much red or black action in Paradiski. Lots of the reds are blue shade of purple, if that. Only a few blacks were open - there's a nice one in the Champagny area, but wait till about lunchtime for the sun to soften the icey bits. Top part of red run Vega above Plagne is virtually black and nice if there's plenty of snow on it. Otherwise it's a death trap.
Lots of just-off-the piste stuff happening below the Plagne glacier, and in the area running back into Belle Plagne from the west.
For a good day out without having to look at a piste map there's a Ski Club GB rep in resort, Dan, who meets 9.30am at L'Arpette chairlift in BelleCote every morning - he'll take you all over the place for a day for free.
Here's hoping there's plenty of new snow by the time you arrive. If not, rent skis!!! The whole resort's really rocky right now!!!

Thanks for all the tips Manda. I'll definitely meet up with the Ski Club Rep.
I know I’ll be challenged enough in La Plagne, my idea a black run is based on trips to Sauze d’Oulx and La Plagne. Didn’t get to travel around La Plagne as much as I wanted last year because of poor weather and lack of intrepid comrades. I remember the Champagny black though, that’s about the toughest slope I could get down and still have the right number of skis at the bottom.
Hope the snow’s a bit deeper for your next trip.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Paddyblack, Welcome to snowheads. Manda, can anyone use a skiclub guide or are you supposed to be a member?

Peter Ross, anyone's welcome to ski with a rep for a day for free. You're supposed to join the club after that but most reps are fairly relaxed and might let you ski with him/her for a few more days before you commit. (£40 2yr discounted membership if bought in-resort).

Manda, I see, that's good, like a test drive or something. I must look up if there is a rep in my resort once I decide on a holiday location.

Peter Ross, yeah - quick squizz on the darkside website will tell you which resort has reps, and even which rep's on when you go. Have fun!
