Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

So... we popped back to the UK in mid september. The aim was to spend a week visiting friends and family and then I shoot off into some woods to do a bushcraft week with the Ray Mears company leaving the wife and kids to buy a years worth of marmite... then finish the bushcraft course and get back on our merry way to a sunny and slightly autumnal Austria.

However, I didn't quite forsee the inevitable gear box issue with the car and the two and a half week wait for some Hyundai parts....

So we got back on Sunday to our summery garden in the drizzle... complete with trampoline, kids toys everywhere, pavillion up, garden furniture out, sand pits and a garage full of bikes and stuff....

Less than 24 hours later the snow has started... and started... and started... !!! I haven't even changed my wheels yet!... and if anyone knows where my winter 'stuff' is please let me know!

Hurrah!... I have found a bag of something!

However, today I learnt/remembered a few valuable lessons:

1. Converse shoes make rubbish snow boots.
2. 'popping' out in the car is an impossibility (and not because it isn't a transporter)
3. Kids just love the white stuff and make you remember why you are here!

Smokin Joe, I'm a bit worried now... I found some excellent fire wood the other day... right next to my winter stuff which was in the garage!
