When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Finally some sexual (and skiing) news from Austria that the country can be proud of

I refer, of course, to the announcement that Saalbach is "Europe's sexiest ski town" and that "Mr Gay Snowman" will appear there next season as part of Euroski Pride.

After all the appalling events concerning dungeons and young girls (one of whom is now 42) being subjected to some of the worst brutality in living memory it's good to know of Austria's embrace of sexual diversity.

And there's Bruno, too - the major motion picture coming to our screens shortly. Sacha Baron-Cohen's gay Austrian model who (we're told from the trailers) adopts an African baby. I really hope there's skiing in this movie, because otherwise this paragraph is of dubious relevance.

Anyway, 2009-10 looks set to be a golden season for Austria. Forget the lederhosen image - this is a nation reborn.
