I will say again, as I said last year - I wish they would actually show the sodding slalom!! Heard so much about how amazing Dave's 2nd run was and they show about 5 seconds.....grrrrrrr ah well, it is good the champs get telly time, but please, distribute it evenly! 10 mins of the whole programme spent on both technical events - rubbish!
|
|
|
|
|
|
Yep! it is good that British Ski Racing gets telly time and it would be brilliant to see more of it and maybe include some of the Children's championships as well perhaps next year?
This programme is shown again on Thursday 23rd April at 0145 - 0235 on ITV 1

You know it makes sense.

A bit less of Nick Fellows and bit more skiing would be very welcome.

vivski, seconded!
Since there seems to be a conspiracy to keep his slalom skiing off the telly, here's a brief clip of Dave Ryding destroying the field at Ipswich last year - without batting an eyelid. Grrr!

They were supposed to have filmed the top 15 in each event so there should have been enough footage to have shown more.

I raced in that and they filmed for hours and hours, most of the racers in the downhill and showed 4, they filmed loads in prize giving and around and about the racing and that is all we got! :S - but I did make it on in the closing seconds with the goodbye cheer!

It is good that they show the British Champs. I thought that they had been lost when CH4 chopped skiing off their scheduling due to budget cuts.
Totally agree though. Less time on Nick Fellows and shorten the interviews to give more time to show the emerging racers. We have some world class Juniors coming through. And more time for the Tech events.
TJ came 5th in the Senior Downhill & 6th in GS but got no air time in those. He did get his Sen SG run shown until he skied out.
He also won 4 out of 5 of the Junior champs but no mention.
Would also be nice if the commentators did their reserch a bit more on some of the younger skiers. They have got his age wrong for 2 years running. Last year he was 21 and from Scotland, this year he was 19! He's still 18 and from Norfolk.
Conrad also said that this was probaly his 1st taste of Super G and he needed more races!!! He's been racing Super G & DH for 4 years and competed at the World Junior champs this year on the full length World cup course at Garmisch P. He's currently World ranked No6 in Super G for his YOB.
Still hopefully ITV were impressed enough and the viewing figures were good enough to give Hot House the chance to put all of next years World Cup skiing on ITV4. Thats the plan anyhow.

That would be good for all the people who haven't got Eurosport. However, I hope they realise we want to watch the racing, not endless chat!

Plugboy, As you say how hard is it for someone to get at least the Team Members bio's to hand for the commentators..
Would have been nice just to feature a few of the upcoming Juniors and Children even if just a brief mention and set of clips.. Rebecca Brown winning BOTH the Children's SL and GS by pretty big margins was definately worth a mention as well as TJ's great results.
