jakemanc, It's worth a trip to Glide and Slide in Otley. They've got state of the art ski tuning/stone-grinding/ceramic-disc edging, and damn decent service.

jakemanc, as above go see Jon at Pisteoffice and do it yourself. Me and my pals do it in my garage. Music, beers and talk rubbish, 1.5 hours a pair including waxing and edging. Don't take to a big chain, all they'll do is bang your skis through a machine and you're skis won't last. How much needs doing, if just edging and simple wax then do it yourself, if a base grind then Jon but either way go so him and get geared up, you'll do your own skis at his place under his guidance, then buy some gear (£150) and your off, at £20/30 a pair you'll soon be in credit!
