Today had a major first, legs ripped off by a 74 year old, 65 and 60 year old - I caned it way too fast and was dehyated - did nigh on 1,300m in 2 hours - the only positive was that the guys & lady I was with have been doing ski touring for years - the 74 year old, Manfred invented the Dynafit touring binding.
But it really goes to show that age is no barrier - just hope I look like him when I'm 74 photos and daily blog www.gavinbaylis.com/ski

I've given out at least 25 free over-72 passes this fortnight, as has my counterpart in Alpe d'Huez. The mountains are heaving with old biddies this month.

Went on a summer race camp in Solden Austria about 10 years ago. German bloke sat opposite me at dinner on the first night was in his early 80s and I assumed he was someone's grandad. Anyhow, he was on the course and it turns out he was "world age group champion" for the over 80s. He took part in absolutely everything including the afternoon fitness training and tests. Quite an amazing fella, skiied fast and looked like he was made of granite. He didn't come out swilling in the evenings though... lightweight.
