Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi all, I hope I've put this in the right place if not apologies. My girlfriend and I are thinking of doing a week with UCPA. We quite fancy Serre Chevalier as the centre looks pretty slick and the skiing is great plus i think they do twin rooms. The lingo isn't a problem, I'm fluent, but I'm trawling the net to try and get ourselves there. Does anybody have any advice on getting to Serre Chevalier, or if any other UCPA centres are easy to get to/ worth a try. Hope you all can help.
Thanks very much
Mat

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Have a look at the Puy St Vincent thread, that's only a few KM from Serre Che so the same travel options should be viable

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

My friend stayed in the UCPA in les arcs 1600 a couple of years ago.
He loved it.
Pretty easy to get to . train/bus to Bourg st marice then on the funicular.
Think its ski in ski out as well. (will be at 1600M).
I'm sure there is a few people who will vouch for how AWESOME les arcs is.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

UCPA in Flaine is great - loads of twin rooms as well as some more regular quads, and I've heard good things about the Chamonix centre too. Very quick transfer to Geneva to either.

MJS,
Have you had a look here?
http://www.action-outdoors.co.uk/datesandprices.aspx
they sell UCPA holidays from the UK. The reviews here have been mixed (i.e. great once in the UCPA center but a couple of issue in dealing with action-outdoors) but nothing distarous and the transfers are included..

MJS,
UCPA at Argentiere is right next to the train station. Also Alpybus and countless others do transfers for about £25 each way to Chamonix or Argentiere.

MJS, lots of options for Serre Chevalier, including a sleeper train to Briancon, flights to Turin (no direct transfer service) , Grenoble (bus from rail station) , Marseille (shuttle bus on a Saturday) and Lyon (daily bus service) . http://www.serre-chevalier.com/How-to-get-here (also click the transport link) has some ideas.
