Off to L2A in two weeks, and I'm speculatively assuming its going to bucket down with snow for a full week before we arrive and then the sun will come out on our first morning...!
Has anyone got any good tips for decent powder-runs, apart from the immediately obvious ones that tend to be annihilated by half ten in the morning??
Not looking for massive hikes, or 120ft drop-offs, but tips such as top of xxx lift, down to piste marker xxxx, then hang a right through the trees to the open bit... etc etc!
Any tips/rates for a day's guiding too? - Easiski seem to have good reports...?!
Thanks

Scottish Skier has informed me I'm mistaken and he'll take you down to Bons which always has the best snow on the mountain. PM him for details.

Easiski - Will do, cheers!
Swirly - Assuming "take you down to Bons" is not an in-resort expression for something entirely different i may well pursue this too....

Prib Star, you can't get back up from Bons unless you walk, mind.

Sounds like an end-of-the-dayer then, with a few pints (Mutzigs?) at the bottom then a cab back...! Or is it one of those two-miles by piste, 200 by road villages...?

Prib Star, Bons has nowhere to sell you Mutzig (or anything else) and I wish you luck in finding a taxi. There's a bus now and then, though, and hitching is easy enough.

Prib Star, There used to be a chairlift - it was aweful - it was condemned and is unlikely to be replaced which is a bu**er because Bons is one of the best runs. You can phone a friend though, or leave a car there ... that's what you have to do for Les Travers which I've heard has been very good this year.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

It's only a 15 min walk (if that) back to the Mont de Lans chair from Bons, if you don't care too much about your skis you can pole along the edge of the road for a load of it too.
easiski have you done the Travers run recently?

Swirly, No, but I've heard it's been good this year - dead avalanchy though.
Prib Star, I assume it's you that's emailed me?
1.No contest - Ski Extreme
2. La Meije
3. None, but the best is prob the one at the top of the Pied Moutet (can't remember what it's called) otherwise Kid Burger at the bottom of the Viking nursery slopes.
4. No idea - too old to go!
5. None!!!

Easiski - It wasn't, but I will!
I like the sound of Travers...? Fancy escorting a group non-mountain-wise, kamikaze inter/adv mixed skiers/boarders down there one day if conditions good? (I will understand if we do not hear from you again...)

Prib Star, How odd - someone emailed me with exactly the same questions as you asked in your OP here! I said email me, so I thought it must be you!!!! I wouldn't take anyone down to Les Travers myself, but I know some who will..

3: Le Takeaway, best pizza and burgers in resort. Whatever you do DO NOT go to Charly Burger.
4: I know of at least one acoustic rock singer to avoid, it might be harsh to stick their name online though.
5: L2A is what you make of it!

Prib Star, wot Easiski said...
I think you have good and impartial advice from all the L2A locals here
oh, and just to add.... book a day in Le Grave with a guide. Last years prices were 300eu per day for UIAGM plus a tip... might need to check if they will take a mixed party tho..as in skiers and boarders ...as LG is not the sort of place to have someone who cannot ski/stay behind the guide.
In some places it matters less, .....not there, IMO
