Is that a birth defect or the result of wearing the wrong sort of shoes? I'm fairly sure it's the former...

cathy, a diabetic has circulatory problems, and reduced sensation in their extremities. They injure their toe or foot, perhaps even just cutting a toenail, and don't realise the damage they have caused. Left untreated, the foot becomes infected, and due to the high concentration of glucise in the bloodstream, has a ready supply of food. Eventually the foot becomes ulcerated, and gangrenous, leading to amputation.

CEM, Keeping a tight check on blood glucose levels and getting plenty of exercise seems to help me avoid any problems. But with old age who knows what we will face.
