Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

QuickSett - One for the snowboarders

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
At first when I saw the QuickSett it reminded me of some of the random crap that people think are amazing products - Snowted's ski carrier or SNOOC to name a few. However Quicksett, looks legit and actually tries to solve what as a skier, and if I am to believe the video, is an issue for boarders.

It is a device that allows snowboarders to rotate one of the bindings to allow for the foot to face forward for a better and more natural position to skate and sit on a chairlift. It got backing on the French version of the Dragon's Den, haven't seen anyone post about it here.

Sliding sideways is perfectly natural Very Happy . And it's a no from me. If I wanted my feet to face forwards, I'd just get back on skis.

Pretty sure that I'd get just as knackered and probably knacker my knees tripping over the darned thing just as much sideways or frontwards; maybe trip more frontwards, thinking about it (on the sofa). Having said that, the choice would sometimes be nice, lift queues especially. But then not resetting it and having to get off a chair and ride with 1 foot pointing forward? Nah; bad enough as it is Laughing

I can't say I find getting comfortable on a chair is a particular problem. Same for flats, once past the beginner level there is not a lot of skating involved in the day, and a quick skate sideways is not so hard.

Seems like something that offers very little imo, and just another thing that can go wrong (I don't imagine the battery running out while stuck in skate mode would make for a good day!).

I scoot by jumping on my board and ride with one foot in and one foot out, can’t do that pointing forward because you are not putting pressure on the edge ... same with getting off a lift

Don’t want another moving part on my binding either.

The only ‘benefit. I can see is that it may be slightly comfier on a chair lift, but getting on and off would be unnatural and dangerous

The guys have invented something to solve a problem that doesn’t really exist

Another one here to say that this is only an issue for beginners in the majority of cases. First week of riding only when taught well.

Having said that, there's always edge cases, and edge cases require specialist solutions. People with knee injuries, (who often try snowboarding after skiing is no longer possible) , the elderly, rich beginners who only ever ride three days a year...

If it's really, really seamless and works with off the shelf bindings and a regular 4x4 disc then it could be a useful bit of kit to have in the bag.

What they said. It's solving a problem which simply doesn't exist. As per the OP, perhaps it's aimed at never-ever snowboarded skiers, because all you have to do is step on a board to realize it's not an issue.

I have worked in TV but don't watch the stuff. I'm still laughing at people wearing their goggles on their foreheads in a studio. Whilst reality TV has done the world a lot of damage, it's still not reality.

Agree it's pointless and would do more harm tham good in chairlift exits as lack of weight on the edge to steer makes survival a lottery.

One footing is probably snowboarding's biggest problem but this isn't the solution.

Every season.... well pre season in the uk and usa this type of dog doo drops .

This product will in its current form will be dead in the water in a short number of years .

Every product such as this is aimed at those that believe they can buy a easy way out other than physical exercise for the sport at hand which is commonly called practise and training time .

50-70 cm dropped in sud tirol at height early this week the weather today is blue sky sunshine and the restaurant tables outside are completely full of skiers snowboarders .

You have those that can and will go ride/ski and then you have the rest online open to looking at and buying into marketing .

Tbh I do get a pain on the outside of my right knee after a few days from the chairs and scooting around (goofy rider). This can get into my right hip after a week or so but still wouldn't want an extra something to faff with. I'm having one eye on split boarding lately but that's a whole new world of faff...

^its worth it faff (split boarding). The other thing looks pointless and dumb.

Really can’t see the issue with one footing, although if I’m on a split with poles on my pack I sometimes use those for a push along.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Point of it aside for a moment, the problem I see is that if you use the quicksett thing, you can only skate it on one side. I'll quite often skate whichever side is more convenient at the time - toe or heel side. Likewise I'll kick the board onto its edge to hold it on icy chair queues and the like, you can do that with this, you'd have to have it flat base and it'll squirm about.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

sure ive seen these on some crowdfunding websites.
I think they are more dangerous than helpful. You got nowhere to go but straight ahead. Not good if coming of a lift & a middle seats skier decides to cut straight in front of you.
