Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

For those who are interested in the resort.
They are replacing the old chalmettes gondola (built in 1976), which seems to be the only lift which you will ever see queues of longer than 10minutes upon. It can be problematic at weekends and peak times especially with Italian weekenders. This should result in minimal queuing in Montgenevre. The old lift's stations are both ugly buildings which are covered in corregated metal. Hopefully the new lift will be more aesthetically pleasing! They are replacing it with a chondola/telemix built by Poma.
The existing gondola will remain open until 31st August for the summer season. It is then planned that construction will finish by late November.
A new lift is planned from the bottom of TSD Tremplin on the north facing side to the summit of Serre Thibaud on the south facing side. This means that no walking is required to access Le Chalvet from the north side. As before you had to cross the road. I think that this lift will link up with the top of the Col d'Alpet drag lift with access to Rocher Rouge. Serre Thibaud is liable to bare patches due to long exposure to the sun. Therefore they are installing snow making facilites upon it. This lift will also be completed by late November.

hows the blue/red run links to Claviere is it possible with much walking or flat skiing
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

There are 4 ways of returning to Claviere:
1. Steep black at the top of the mountain off the Rocher d'Aigle chair.
2. Red from the same chair, this misses out the real steep bit of the black. For a red though it is reasonably steep. All good fun if you're a confident skiier.
3. Parallell to the cross country track from the bottom of the new Serre Thibaud lift and the Tremplin lift there is a green. It requires you to keep your speed up to prevent using your poles. But it is reccomended for begginers and children so they don't have do the above.
4. The blue from the Chalvet side which takes you under the Montiquitaine lift. This brings you out in the other side of Claviere. Which is handy for some who are staying in that side, however it requires a relatively short walk, but a walk all the same in ski boots to the snow front in Claviere.

, That map above has the telemixs on it. They are called Chalmettes + Serre Thibaud. They haven't distinguished been a Gondola and a Telemix on the piste map.
2 ways to return:
1. The usual and easiest taking Col Beouf from Claviere and heading right on reds to towards Tremplin lift. You need to be able to ski easy red runs.
2. Walk across town to Montquitaine lift. This is pointless unless you're with inexperienced skiiers.
