An album of Nazi photos, including one of Hitler skiing, is up for auction in Ludlow this Thursday. The photos were originally printed for keen collectors in Nazi Germany, who could buy them in local shops.
This report from Telegraph.co.uk.
The photos date from 1936, the year of the Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (and Summer Olympics in Berlin).
What would you pay for a photo of Hitler goose-stepping a pair of cross-country skis (not necessarily in this collection)?

Not a lot, but I might pay for a film clip of him doing the same as at least he would look a complete twit

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

David Goldsmith, which took me on to this video also on offer of a radio-control Globemaster. I remember many full-size examples at Christchurch New Zealand (in support of the Antarctic programme) when I was a boy. My family thought they were huge. In flight they were far more ponderous than the model is.

David Goldsmith, Trendy ski socks, cleavage, what more could a good old fashioned ski perv want

David Goldsmith, for sheer old fashioned skiing enjoyment, Der Weisse Rausch takes a lot to beat, I think. I suppose the association with Hitler is inevitable - pity - there's good stuff there.

There should be an 'Eddie the Eagle's Nest' next door to remind them who won the war.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

In his book 'The Story of Skiing', Arnold Lunn describes entering St Anton just before the war and sensing a very sinister atmosphere. Well worth a read.

Hitler was famously scared of heights so would not have enjoyed cable cars etc. He only went up to the Eagle's Nest 5 times because of it. His ski pic was probably a publicity stunt.

Wasn't it as a result of an unfortunate skiing accident that Hitler ended up with the medical condition described in the song Colonel Bogey?

David Goldsmith, Alan Coren - he said to increase sales - one titled a collection of articles called "Golfing for Cats" - with a cover cartoon of a Cat playing Golf wearing a Swastika armband...

It's just been explained to me that the logo on the helmet stands for 'Ski Schule'. Apparently SS instructors always wore helmets, and other distinctive uniform.
I'm told there's also a photo of Hitler posing with an avalanche dog. Just searching for that.
