Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Been thinking about getting some skins, how do people who use them rate them and is there a particular make/model you reccommend?

Gsyfreerider, I've got Under Armour cold gear and Silk thermals, silks are arguably warmer++lighter.

arv, Just looked up the under armour, my 'moobs' should look great in any of those tops? Seriously though is it good gear do you find you are using less layers on top?

Gsyfreerider, I run pretty hot anyway so it is difficult for me to comment. The good thing about skins is that you can get short length bottoms which Under Armour don't (or didn't do) and I had to resort to butchering mine.

I honestly don't see the point of compression -tops- for skiers. Compression bottoms, sure.

Me too, I was at risk of my feet falling off! Shocked But the good news is that the material doesn't fray.

Compression tops are not really worth it..bottoms are better as they do give some benefit..they shoudl just be used as a base layer replacement.

Skins aren't worth the money I reckon, I have skins, linebreak and Xbionic and rate the linebreak way more, and they're a lot cheaper.

Its worth experiementing, and going a size smaller then you woudl think if you really want to get the compression benefit, can always send back if to much of a squeeze on..

Any experience of Icebreaker merino wool base layer, anyone? I had good reports from a chalet-buddy last year.

Fantastic - comfortable and non-smelly. They're not cheap, though.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

papasmurf, thanks very much, will try them. (The reason I cut off my leggings was that they were cutting off the circulation to my feet, and also the cuff was affecting boot fit.)

yes excellent...though it does still itch..no matter what they say..just not as much...great range from 140mg to 300 plus, so something to suit everyones temp requirements..and you can get around 3-4 days sking out of a top before it might be considered not fresh enough to wear..

these guys always have a few good deals for icebrreaker http://shop.themountainfactor.com/section.php?xSec=387

Linebreak do a range of cut of leggins and 3/4 shorts so might be good to try...

Hurtle, maybe not cheap up front but if I can get 10 years use from them, in my usual miserly way I'll get good value from them. They'd REALLY better not be smelly, though Toofy Grin

Did anyone see Dancing on Ice at the weekend (honest guv, I was only channel surfing....! Blush ) It was like a promo for Skins - there was at least two of them wearing their stuff. Blatant product placement......oh, hold on, it was ITV - DOH! rolling eyes Laughing

Well, I can't guarantee it for you, but my first experience was wearing one for three consecutive days on a trek and it didn't pong. I find a synthetic base layer smells after half a day's wear. Mind you, I wouldn't necessarily recommend wearing them for 10 years without washing them. wink

Wow, Linebreak leggings already received from Wiggle. But too big - I should have taken your advice, papasmurf, and gone a size smaller than obvious. They are beautifully made - a much, much better cut and finish than UnderArmour.

Wiggle are usually pretty quick with returns..and I think you can even order the right item while you send the old one back..
