Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Thicker ear pads for a giro nine.9 lid?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Just wondering if it's possible to get thicker earpads for my helmet. I have quite a narrow head so there's a bit of a gap and my ears sometimes get quite chilly, especially when it's windy. I've not heard of anything but thought it was worth asking.

el nombre, Giro make 2 types of ear pads for the 9.9 the standard ones that come with the helmet and the tune-up model that has speakers built in. That's your lot I'm afraid.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

el nombre,

- buy a better fitting helmet next time rolling eyes
- wear a thin balaclava or helmet liner under your current one
- glue on more padding.

comprex, The helmet shell fits fine, it's jsut the ear pads. Due to the fit being fine, i cannot fit a normal hat underneath (possibly could get a helmet liner doodad)

Spyderman, thank you for a slightly less patronising response, i thought that was pretty much the case. Are the tune up pads any thicker, i've contemplated getting those before (for music, not just hopeing that they'd be warmer)

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

el nombre, Tune-ups are a bit thicker, just. There are hats specifically designed to wear under helmets, being very thin, they may be better.

Surelly tightening the straps pulls the ear pads closer. Sure does on my Giro 10. maybe your straps are not pull in enough?

madmole, that is the reason my first answer was 'patronising'. If the helmet fits right, surely strap tension can fix it?

el nombre, If the existing pads are soft could you not stitch on an additional piece of thick soft material to take up the extra space? Mind you I agree with the thought above re: the straps - it could be worth checking if they will adjust in a way that would take up the excess volume - I had to have a good look at the kids helmets to work out how best to get the straps to adjust for their little heads.
