Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi all

in Chamonix 20th Feb to 1st March and want to book a couple of private lessons for my son who is a beginner and for me who is advanced intermediate who wants to start getting off piste....

Any recommendations?

My son (17) needs to progress from snow plough to linked paralel turns and build some (lots) of confidence. I need a general on piste tune up and then some off piste work.

We don't want to get tied down to a week of split lessons so I was hoping we could hire an instructor for a day to 'do us both' for want of a better phrase but I realise this would be logistically dificult.

p.s. Alex... my son... has had a full day lessons on snow in the uk and used to play a bit of ice hockey as well as being a half decent skateboarder, he was well ahead of the game when he went for his full day at xscape and i'm confident he'll pick things up very quickly.... I'm a decent skier but an unfit lardy! (doing something about it!)

Vipa, I would second snowaddict, BASS are very good there are 4 instructors and they are all first rate so you dont risk getting a duff one.

I can definitely recommend Didier at Evolution2 - think he teaches all levels but i did an off piste course with him a few weeks ago and he was excellent. Differnt skiing abilities in the group were managed very well by him without leaving anyone out and i'm sure everyone progressed during the period. Would highly recommend him!
