Poster: A snowHead

I'm hiring a car and am thinking of using the inflatable roofrack that I have seen advertised.
Has anyone any experience of them? I'm looking to put 4 pair of ski's on the roof.
thanks all

Interesting idea! I don't know them myself but a quick Google search came up with this review.

Main problem seemed to be it dented the hire car roof - don't know if this was due to the weight of the two canoes on the top or (more likely) inflating the rack against the cross strap which holds it to the car, thus creating downwards pressure onto the roof. However the dent popped straight back out once they removed the rack the following morning.
Not sure how easy it would be to attach a number of pairs of skis to it though, and they'd have to be well wrapped so that the edges wouldn't cut the rack. Would be great if it worked!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Yes, it's pretty good - we've used it down an autoroute for a couple of hours several times whizzing around the alps for a couple of seasons and nothing fell off.

We have just bought one to get our two wheelie bags to the airport on the roof of our vauxhall astra.
I gave it a trail run yesturday in fact, & despite being a 2 door hatch (& looking unlikely that we could space the 2 inflatable racks far enough apart) , the board bags sat nicely on top, and there are several loops to enable various postioning of the load.
If you are loading loose ski`s why not sandwich them in pairs with some foam at the point they come into contact with the rack...

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks,
I've looked at the link to the canoe loading/roof denting saga! I don't think it will put me off though. Each pair of skis being evenly weighted shouldn't cause too much of a problem.
Also looks as if the links that are attached will enable a couple of double ski bags to be locked on.
Question.....If anyone has used the handirack...did you feel the need to use one of those rachet type straps? and also
.................did it effect the seal around the door where it came through?
thanks again all

You'll need to Register first of course.

The ratchet type straps are very much a kayak thing, because the hulls are too smooth to get a secure grip on with looser straps. With a ski bag - not required.

I've had one for three years, it's seen some serious use. Awesome. I'm sure I reviewed it on here...
