I have a patient who needs new boots and really decent orthotics because of some forefoot problems. She would like to sort this out in resort in verbier in February. Obviously I will discuss the Oxfordshire Option  but who in verbier would snowHeads really rate for proper custom orthotics and fitting?

There is Surefoot, but they use generic Footbed system, despite describing it as custom. In all my time fitting boots these type of footbeds have shown themselves to be the most problematic. Sorry Surefoot but it's my findings.

stoatsbrother, I'd look at the Oxfordshire option - apart from Surefoot, I didn't see many people doing footbed's and if they did - it looked as tho. you might get better quality and attention at Snow+R

There is a great guy in Zermatt but i guess a trip to Cham would be just as easy, honestly don't know the roads that well.

I got a good boot fitting from Nick at Mountain Air, I think he was a recommendation on here. Don't know what he can and can't do on custom orthotics - I didn't need anything fancy he put me in Superfeet beds which are working fine for me. He seems to be the go-to boot guy in Verbier so would be worth e-mailing them to ask what he can do for your patient's problem.

1 hour drive to Cham, maybe 1hr 15 mins if you dawdle.
I'd go to the Zoo. I spend a lot of time in Verbier...and the Zoo would be my choice.

I'll just Ok the MountainAir recommendation. Nick is the recognised guru of fitting in Verbier, and I wouldn't go anywhere else in the Alps if you've dodgy feet. He'll customise shells and inners as you need, and then spend a couple of hours or more tweaking with inserts, tape and donkey's years of know-how. He sorted my triangular feet out about three years ago, and still perfect (with the odd re-visit to adjust); even better, my wife's basket-case feet (broken, high-arches, ...nightmare!) were so bad she could barely put boots on for longer than 10 minutes. She was walking around in Nick's boots all day without even adjusting them. Its not often I'll stick my neck out, but I don't hink you can go wrong. But book HIM, not one of his side-kicks; they're good but not as good. Book an appointment BEFORE you go out, and sacrifice a morning, and a biggish cheque... its worth it. Cheers and happy skiing.

Another vote for Nick at Mountain Air. Fitted my Zipfits last season. Bizarre moment was standing in a large bucket of snow to cool the boots down after heat moulding but happy with the results

I went to Surefoot in Verbier last season, and service have to say was excellent. This notwithstanding, and as smallzookeeper alluded to earlier, it was not without its problems.
I had to go back 3 times in my 2 weeks stint (a wind up to say the least) to get them right. This said, I had kind of signed up for at least one repeat visit to 'get them right'. I'm no footdoctor though, so no idea if it would suit your 'specialist' requirements.
No idea how this compares to others experiences but end result is now i'm very happy with my surefoots (w/Lange hard casing) and can't wait to get cracking come Jan 24th!

Can you elaborate on the forefoot problem that your patient has without breaking patient/doctor confidentiality?
The orthotics (footbeds in UK terms) made by Surefoot are custom ground to match the underside of the feet from a "sized blank" or template, they are only generic in that they are ground from a blank. Other custom made orthotics (like Sidas) are made by standing on a "bed of wax" and the orthotic being produced from the indentation. The Surefoot computerised system should because it measures the underfoot shape more directly than the Sidas Process should produce a more accurate orthotic fit.
However the problem your patient has may require more than a moulded orthotic alone. As the "Oxfordshire Option" will no doubt tell you the fit of the boot comprises the correct fitting of the Inner Boot and the Outer Shell too. Correct alignment of the foot, legs and knees must also be achieved.
If like you, your patient lives in Lewes, they may like to consider a journey to Surefoot in London for a boot fitting in order to avoid wasting skiing time in Verbier. Any issues discovered while skiing in Verbier can then be resolved in the Surefoot shop in Verbier.
