Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Hi guys,

Since this is where Keela first came to my attention, this seemed like a good place to ask.

I have a Munro which, inspite of the stitching in the pocket coming apart after almost no use, im reasonably happy with. However it just is a bit big and extreme for most of my use which rarely involves more than a couple of hundred yards of walking in the wet and cold. Additionally there is no disguising that it is a big and bulky expedition type jacket - I want something more casual! I would have loved one of the North Face 485 jackets but, assuming one can even locate one, they are nonsensically expensive. So looking for casual type jackets which provide a reasonable level of warmth (fleece lining would be quite splendid!) and capable of taking a short drenching... and doesnt cost hundreds of pounds!

So Keela softshells - quantum and fusion seem to go some way to fitting the bill. Unfortunately (I am from Belfast), I cannot see one, cannot try one on etc. Has anyone got either of these? I have a mountain hardwear alchemy jacket but it isnt really so warm and is a tad 'stiff' - how would the keela compare? Can anyone comment on the sizing? I have a medium munro (though could easily enough take a small) - would I want a small or a medium in the likes of the quantum?

I have a large Munro which is 'ample' even with 2 fleeces - not that I've been cold enough to need two since I got it.
I also wear a medium Quantum which is 'snug' with one fleece.
