What is meant by the fall line?
I here it mentioned on the FIS coverage on Eurosport, but what do they mean by it?

Look in a straight line down the slope that is it!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

If you dropped your orange* it's the route it would take down the hill.
*said item must be round 'cos if it has flat spots it's likely to roll any where except up your leg.

shoogly, Proabably just turn into a giant snow ball! But then would it still be an orange?

Simply, it is the line of steepest gradient down the slope, whether a rolling orange stops or not doesn't matter! Occasionally you might hear someone say a slope has a double fall line - this means that the fall line is not straight down as you look at it from the top and often confuses beginners when they try to ski down.

When you use a ski school to stop, watch the trajectory of the domino effect, this is the fall-line.

Find a steep, rock-hard icy slope, take your skis off and walk in ski boots onto the slope. This should enable you to spot the fall line with relative ease.
