We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Marker Duke/Baron Selection Criteria

Had a delivery in today & thought I'd do a quick weight check using a set of digital postal scales that I know are accurate to a few grams either way.

I weighed 5 pairs of large & small Dukes and 5 pairs of large & small Barons, all fitted with 110mm brakes - so that's 10 individual bindings of each size.

The average weight per binding was:
Large Duke - 1376g
Small Duke - 1354g
Large Baron - 1324g
Small Baron - 1312g

The Duke's are 6-16 din & have metal toe wings versus plastic toe wings on the 4-12 din Baron.

Conclusion: Very little actual weight difference so don't use potential weight saving as a reason to buy the Baron instead of the Duke. Decision should be made on din requirements first & then cost.

The jury's still out on the durability of the Baron but at the moment I'd suggest that if you ski on a din of 7 or more you should go for the Duke as the additional cost (£40-£45) is minimal over long term use. If you're a charger/hucker/lardy then the Duke is a no-brainer.

Cheers for that. Marketing and general sillyness led me to believe the Baron would be substantially lighter. Food for thought.

I just bought some Barons today and have them set at 8 so we will see Very Happy
Also got some spanky new green boots to go with them (B D Factors) cant wait to use them. snowHead
