... could be The Ski Trolley. Though other nominations are welcome.
How does it work? Click: 'Curious?'
Most importantly, it answers your every need (this is from the questions and answers section):

5. Does my mobile phone fit into the SkiTrolley?
Yes most types of mobile phones fit into the SkiTrolley. First you have to remove the foam in de lower part of the SkiTrolley. Watch out: before you put your mobile phone into the SkiTrolley make sure that the SkiTrolley is not wet or moist. When closing the SkiTrolley, test cautiously if your mobile phone unit is not too big to fit in the SkiTrolley without causing damage to your phone. The SkiTrolley is primarily developed to transfer skis. Keeping your mobile phone in the SkiTrolley is at your own risk. |

It looks like it would work on very flat surfaces. So excellent for airports (when your skis are in a bag...) but not so good in resort when the trolley is dragging through snow and slush, your expensive skis trailing behind you, tripping over local pensioners and exciting the interest of small dogs. So my main question is: what's the point?

It's amazing how many times ski rollers like this have been re-invented. I began writing about ski equipment in 1978, and in the 1980s I lost count of the number of these accessories that appeared. One winter, I think there were 3 of them!

Surely if I can transport my mobile phone in my SkiTrolley it must have a myriad of other possibilities (assuming it is not wet or moist). Could I not transport items such as my wallet, passport, lift pass or expensive watch in my SkiTrolley?

I do not understand? Where would you use it? Airports, tend to have trolleys. Any other time its over the shoulder or hung from bag handles. These inventors have the life!!! Good luck to them, should they be pitied or congratulated. Maybe a trip to the pub would be better for them, meet some people.
I agree withmichael stocking, Why?

Excellent idea - you could meet lots of failed inventors of ski rollers and trollies and drown their sorrows.

In the interest of avoiding the critical glare and malevolence from Kevin McClean, this thread should be deleted. Anyone familiar with his rants about useless skiing accessories will nod knowingly at this sensible piece of advice.
Indeed, I still carry the mental scars from earning Kevin's withering criticism for holding up my hand to owning one of these!. Part of my therapy involved carrying my skis to a safe location, undoing the sling and burning it, before returning, skis over shoulder, tips down. At least I look less like a punter now

Russell, after much thought I think they mean to put the phone in it only when the stupid thing is in your jacket pocket. Bit of added protection if you fall I suppose. On the end of skis - - - daft I calls it Where is McClean ? Hasn't been on for ages. Is he picking fights in another place ?

What about those rubber things (Cat tracks) that go on the tips and heels of your boots?

I used to have a pair of those, more to make it easier to walk in my boots than to protect them. They did make it easier to walk, but they were a bit bulky (and dirty) in the pocket and eventually stretched so much that they kept on falling off the boot. Also, I got fed up with wondering why I couldn't get my boot into the binding. The hopping about on one leg while trying to remove/fit one was a bit of a pain as well.
For some reason I find walking in ski boots less of a problem than I used to, just as find skis easier to carry. It's only taken me 23 years to get used to them.

I use cat-tracks all the time - not to make it esier for walking (although they do) but mainly to protect the binding surface on the boot.
As for storing them when they are not on your boots, they don't go in the pocket - I simply loop them round the strap of the boot (the salopettes just have enough leg room)
